After two cancellations, the motorsport club (MSC) fichtelberg was the third club to open this year's upper franconian ice cup – and was praised for its course, which withstood the double driving by 94 drivers despite a few plus degrees at midday until the end of the event.
The start of the sporting event was made by the rear-wheel drive vehicles. Here, the riders from MSC fichtelberg showed all their driving skills and secured a triple victory, led by MSC boss thomas schinner, followed by markus becher and third-place finisher franz scharl. Two-time NOO cross slalom title winner alexander hofmann from MSC nordhalben came fourth in the small, widely used fiat 126, but was still unable to break the dominance of the field, missing out on the podium by an extremely narrow six hundredths of a second.
In the front-wheel drive category, 34 drivers took to the track. The winner was raphael kohlhofer from the host MSC fichtelberg. The next race takes place on sunday at the AMC naila in steinbach.
